Before & After Redesign with Prima Floral Black Antique Sideboard
My Latest Creation – Upcycled Sideboard (May 2026)
I'm excited to share one of my latest furniture transformations, completed in May 2026.
This beautiful sideboard came from a lovely couple who had originally planned to upcycle it themselves but simply didn't have the time. For me, it was the perfect piece to showcase the stunning new floral transfers from RedeSIGN with Prima.
The transformation began with a thorough sanding and deep clean to create the perfect surface for painting. To enhance the character and elegance of the piece, I added decorative mouldings, giving the sideboard a more striking and refined appearance.
The entire unit was then hand-painted using Cornish Milk Paint in Black Rock, a rich, sophisticated shade that provides the perfect backdrop for the floral design. To add extra depth and interest, I incorporated a textured powder into selected areas of the paintwork, creating a subtle raised effect that catches the light beautifully.
Once the paint had fully cured, I carefully applied the floral transfers from RedeSIGN with Prima to both the front and top of the sideboard. To elevate the design further, I hand-painted over sections of the transfers using Annie Sloan paint. This technique softens the edges, creates a more authentic hand-painted appearance, and adds a subtle three-dimensional effect to the flowers.
The result is a truly unique statement piece that combines bold colour, texture, and delicate floral detail while preserving the charm of the original furniture.
